The robins are singing, the hares are changing colour and the weather is gradually improving. That all means we are ready to start thinking about cleaning up what the melting snow has left behind in the park spaces and back lanes, and spring cleaning our homes, yards and garages!

The Northern Hills Community Association, Northstar (Panorama) Residents’ Association, and now Vivo for Healthier Generations are partnering again for our

ANNUAL COMMUNITY CLEAN UP!

Saturday, May 18th

9am – 2pm

at East Parking Lot, Vivo for Healthier Generations

11950 Country Village Link NE

Volunteers go out to all the Northern Hills communities and help to clean them up by picking up litter in our green spaces, medians and back lanes. Residents can also bring in their unwanted items from their spring clear out to one central location for disposal, recycling or reuse!

Items accepted:

Bottle Drive by Bottle Depot (collected money will go to NHCA – back to community!)

Metals

City of Calgary Services (recycling, large landfill, and compost)

Electronics (eCycle): computers/laptops, computer-related items, TV’s, TV-related items. Visit ecyclesolutions.com for more details.

Clothing, small household items, mobility equipment, and children’s toys (Women in Need Society): Visit www.womeninneed.net/donate-goods/ for a list of items that can be donated.

Items NOT accepted:

Tires

Paint, Liquids, Household Chemicals

Car Batteries

Glass

Home Appliances, Microwaves

Propane and Helium Tanks

Some of these items can be dropped off at our local Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off at the Country Hills Multi Services centre (fire/police) opposite Vivo (11955 Country Village Link NE).

Want to Help?

We’re looking for volunteers! We will be providing The Litter Cleanup Kits (TLC Kits). Each kit contains gloves, garbage bags and hand sanitizer for up to 10 people along with helpful cleanup tips.
